Yaro Starak: The Year it was at Entrepreneur’s Journey

Yaro yesterday posted a blog on his achievements for the year over at Entrepreneur’s Journey.

Some of the highlights:

- Attending the Strategic Profits event in Florida.

- Attending the World Internet Summit in Melbourne.

- Buying his first house and a new car.

- Selling BetterEdit.com for a low-six figure sum.

- Continuing to enlighten, inspire and teach me more about online business and the opportunities it provides.

If you would like to read the blog post, and I highly recommend you do, click here.

This post is the first of three posts Yaro intends to publish on this topic. So add his blog to your RSS reader so you don’t miss out on the others.

Over and out…

AdSense: Positioning and format.

Ok, so I’ll probably be hated for writing this wee post. Blog posts on AdSense are never-ending. As are “how to make money on the internet” posts. Nonetheless, I wish to share with you the importance I have found with advert positioning -and formats. I think?

As most people will know, I run a hiking blog called Trampola. Before I redesigned the Wordpress layout I was getting on average 1 click per week. I am now getting 1 per day -on average. Obviously this isn’t a hell of a lot, but it’s a great improvement. I owe this to the new, fresher layout of the page.

If you look at Trampola you’ll see that the only AdSense is at the end of each blog post in the form of a “picture” ad. I chose picture (banner) ads purely for experimental purposes as I have had good experiences in receiving clicks on banner ads hosted by Commission Monster and the like. I also feel that people get curious and just click these ads to see what is on the other side.

Obviously, the standard ad panel that Google AdSense uses (see the panel to the right of this post) is far more relevent and informative. However, maybe it’s a little too specific? It tells people exactly what to expect rather than leaving that level of mystery that many pictorial type ads do. Sure, a picture is worth a thousand words but pictures are also fun.

If you’d like to give AdSense a go on your website, click the banner below to sign-up. It costs you nothing, is painless and is a true form of passive income. You serious have nothing to lose.

Anyways, I think I have rambled on enough and probably haven’t conveyed my point accurately but hey, I hope somebody, somewhere takes something from this post. Hopefully you find the AdSense on this and the Trampola blog relevent and find the need to click. Am I allowed to say that? Anyways… Please don’t let me sway your mind.

My favourite internet business blogs/sites.

When it comes to bookmarking sites I am so disorganised. I start out with cleverly titled folders and every intention to store each bookmark in an orderly fashion. Two days later, it’s a shambles again. So in this post I will plug a few of my favourite internet business blogs and it’ll also act as a means of me bookmarking these sites -some more.

Net Business Blog
Matt Coddington launched this blog at the start of 2007. Since then it’s grown and grown and gone from strength to strength. What I really like about Matt’s site is his case study on the rock’n'roll music blog he’s recently launched. Very informative and inspiring. (Stay tuned as i’ll be launching a new blog as a case study soon, myself!)

Entrepreneurs Journey
What can I say: Yaro Starak is a gun. I don’t know of a site more rich in information about internet business and marketing than his blog, Entrepreneurs Journey. Constantly, he fills us in on his success and progress with BetterEdit and many of his other endeavors. A must see!

College-Startup
College student, Ben Bleikamp’s blog intends to teach students how they can make money on the internet from their dorm-room. He should know; that’s what he’s done. I really enjoyed the article on 5 Steps To Jump-start Your Website.

Have Laptop, Will Travel
This blog isn’t really about internet business but it’ll get a mention as one of my favourite technology blogs. Always seems to feature something exciting. Now that I have “marked it” here I will hopefully check it more often.

Eli Burfords Blog
I stumbled across Eli’s blog whilst looking at an auction for a Photoshop Tutorial site he was selling. Again, not so much about internet business; more web development. He’s very talented, especially for his age.

That’ll do me for now.

Busy, busy, busy. More blogs to come.

Ok, so it’s been a couple of days and I haven’t posted. In terms of generating traffic and interest, apparently that’s a no-no. That’s what I have found on my other blog. As soon as fresh content is generated, spikes in uniques abound -albeit a lot of them are bots.

My point is, I have heaps of posts I wish to submit over the next month. Lots of well thought out articles on various internet, marketing and business related topics. Quite unique articles I must say. Also, heaps of sundry articles, subjectively written on technology and Australian business news.

So please stay tuned. I am unsure who has added this to their RSS feed thingy. I must read into that device a little more as I am not so sure how it works or how I’d track it.

Anyways, over and out for now. Posts are ‘a comin’ tomorrow.

Welcome to my blog of fun, internet business, marketing and stuff.

Today marks day two of this blog. In the past 24-hours the blog has received 30 unique visitors so I am pretty chuffed with that result. Especially seeing I only have one real post uploaded.

In the post I intend to explain my reasoning for this blog and all of that stuff.

If you look around the net at the moment, the keywords: internet business, marketing, internet marketing, technology, yada yada are so heavily used. And here I am making an entry into the land of internet with a site that works those words too -hehe. The way I intend to make my blog different is to convey my opinions at a novice level -which I am.

I only made my first journey into online business last year. I had an idea for a property search site targeting a niche. The plan is still in development unfortunately, but I have learnt a lot.

Since the beginning I have mucked around with a few other sites and a number of domain names and I have even made some money. I intend to see how far I can take my head full of ideas and what becomes of it all. And, as it seems, I am sharing it with the world too…

Another flavour I wish to add to this blog is Australian. I am Australian and see a lack of content about Australian business, internet marketing, technology and the like.

Overall, this blog is about internet business and marketing, technology and the internet, particularly in Australia. Oh, through the eyes of a novice.

Some of the things I am not so novice in are marketing (especially value exchange), telecommunications (especially wireless and data), graphic design and photography. All of these areas will shine through in my posts a little. When it comes to the subject of business overall, I feel I have a good understanding of what’s going on in the world.

Anyway, over and out for now.
