Directrola -Coming Soon!

directrola.jpg

I have another link directory on its way. Directrola is its name. This directory will be a lot different than the ones that are all over the place. As I have found, people respond better to good looking directories. As much as it doesn’t really matter if you’re using it for PR reasons, I still think aesthetics matter. I’ll keep people up-to-date with what’s going on with this site…

Directory-Tree: Nearly ready for, urm, re-launch.

Check out my link directory. It should be completely up in a few days. It’s a free directory but feel free to run a reciprocal link on your site. Featured links are $5/per year!

Troubles in paradise: Transferring bloomin’ ownership.

Buying domain names is one thing but buying websites is a handful. In a previous post, I mentioned that I bought Directory-Tree which is a neat little link directory. Well, trying to transfer the domain name was a piece of cake. But transferring the site and the PHPLD script is a pain in the neck. What more, the previous owner is on a different time-zone and hasn’t got regular connection to the internet.

Fingers crossed that I have it transfered over the weekend. The site is down at the moment because of the transfer which concerns me. However, Trampola went down back in May for a few days and that didn’t cause too much trouble.

Again, fingers crossed.

Pajago’s latest acquisition.

Last week on Digital Point I made purchase of Directory-Tree. I must say it’s one of the neatest web directory designs I have seen in a while: especially for the price.

The stats for the site are pretty neat. It’s Alexa ranked; has a PR1 (which I’ll soon change) and loads of potential.

This is my new pet-project so we’ll see how we go.

In other news, I have been on a domain name buying spree. Purchased four over the week. All have loads of potental. A couple I wish to build blogs around and flip. The others I’ll invest time and effort as they are associated with interests of mine, i.e. global warming and travel.

Advertise Here

AdSense Earnings: starting to grow.

I must say, I haven’t had a great deal of success with Google AdSense. I have AdSense installed on my tramping blog which is getting steady traffic, yet no clicks.

This was until recently. Now I am getting a few clicks every few days and they are paying quite well. I really think it’s back to the drawing board for me; to find a worthwhile advertising strategy for the site.

As you can see, this site hasn’t been monetised as of yet. There is an option to advertise via text link on the right-hand sidebar but that is all. So, on that note, feel free to click away and add your text link ad: I’d appreciate it and the site is getting ever increasing traffic.

Post, uniques and general statistics so far.

Ok, let’s discuss how this blog is traveling so far on this, it’s 9th day of life.

I have posted on average 2-posts per day -we are up to 20 at the moment. On average the site is getting 20-unique visitors per day. In actual fact, some days it’s gets 10-12 then others it spikes to 30-40. Highest day so far got me 73-unique visitors. What a lovely day!  Google has indexed 10-pages at this stage. I can’t wait till that starts to grow, along with backlinks. Overall, having a good time writing here and watching the stats grow.

Trampola: neglected but still getting hits.

For those of you that don’t know, I run a tramping/trekking/hiking blog called Trampola. Of late, I have been very neglectful of the ol’ gal and haven’t really submitted any unique content. Having said that, I am still getting unique visitors and loads of page views.

Why is this the case? Few posts, non-unique stuff, shoddy layout, overall neglect and people are still liking it?

I must say, the search engines have nicely indexed the site so I am guessing that has something to do with it. I am even making a little revenue from the site.

In other news, I got an email from a gear company yesterday, wanting me to do a product review on the site.

I was considering selling the site due to lack of time and inspiration to carry on, but now I am thinking of getting the design done properly and concentrating some time on her.

Anyways, that’s my babbly for now. I’ll keep people posted on the progress and my decisions.

Shameless plug.

Ok, so this is my first post.

Just a bit of a plug of some of my sites; please check them out:

itsreal.com.au
South Australia’s dedicated rental website. We started production on this baby back in January, but the idea came about in June 06. Hopefully, we’ll do something about launching it in the next couple of months. I know, I know, so slack.
trampola.com
This is a blog I run, about tramping/hiking/bushwalking, call it what you will. It looks a bit rusty at the moment purely because I haven’t found a Wordpress theme I like enough to invest time to modify. When I find one, I wish to power it right up and optimise the AdSense.

Well that’s it for now. I guess nobody is reading this yet, but hey, I like talking (typing) to myself…
