Trampola: neglected but still getting hits.

For those of you that don’t know, I run a tramping/trekking/hiking blog called Trampola. Of late, I have been very neglectful of the ol’ gal and haven’t really submitted any unique content. Having said that, I am still getting unique visitors and loads of page views.

Why is this the case? Few posts, non-unique stuff, shoddy layout, overall neglect and people are still liking it?

I must say, the search engines have nicely indexed the site so I am guessing that has something to do with it. I am even making a little revenue from the site.

In other news, I got an email from a gear company yesterday, wanting me to do a product review on the site.

I was considering selling the site due to lack of time and inspiration to carry on, but now I am thinking of getting the design done properly and concentrating some time on her.

Anyways, that’s my babbly for now. I’ll keep people posted on the progress and my decisions.

Coffee theme?

Excuse the coffee theme of the posts. It’s completely coincidental.

Globalisation supported by art-rock band? I doubt it.

It’s around the traps at the moment that British art-rock band, Radiohead are signing with Starbucks’ record label, Hear Music. Paul McCartney has apparently done so.

Could this be true, or further from the truth?

Radiohead is extremely anti-corporation and anti-globalisation. Lead singer, Thom Yorke is an active member of Friends of the Earth which exemplifies the bands participation in global issues, i.e. Global Warming.

Starbucks, on the other hand, has been critisised for its fair-trade policies, labor relations, and environmental impact. I don’t see how the two consort?

Personally, I think the concept of coffee shop-cum-record label is a great idea. What do people in a coffee shop enjoy doing? Reading a book/magazine and listening to their music. What sort of people are portrayed as frequenting a coffee shop? University students in a hurry for class and arty-farty types that enjoy weak-decaf-soy-latte. What an extremely captive audience!

Obviously these above views are generalist but I am sure plenty of you will agree, they are fairly on-the-money.

I see Radiohead and Starbucks as being compatible if it weren’t for the fact that Starbucks is Starbucks. If they had the right culture and their head in the right place I could understand. I think this is all just speculation. I believe Radiohead will manage themselves in-house.

Busy, busy, busy. More blogs to come.

Ok, so it’s been a couple of days and I haven’t posted. In terms of generating traffic and interest, apparently that’s a no-no. That’s what I have found on my other blog. As soon as fresh content is generated, spikes in uniques abound -albeit a lot of them are bots.

My point is, I have heaps of posts I wish to submit over the next month. Lots of well thought out articles on various internet, marketing and business related topics. Quite unique articles I must say. Also, heaps of sundry articles, subjectively written on technology and Australian business news.

So please stay tuned. I am unsure who has added this to their RSS feed thingy. I must read into that device a little more as I am not so sure how it works or how I’d track it.

Anyways, over and out for now. Posts are ‘a comin’ tomorrow.

Leopard delayed by iPhone.

Well this is a real pity, and perhaps something that’s not really worth writing about, but oh well. Apple Leopard (their new operating system) has been delayed due to “redirection of resources” to the iPhone project. Put simply, they (Apple) have put a number of engineers on the iPhone job who’d be normally working the OS.

iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and resources.

This is admittedly old news but oh well; it matters to me. Can’t wait to get the iPhone in my hands but am unfazed by Leopard. I soon intend to get a MacBook Pro but love OSX 10.4!

Welcome to my blog of fun, internet business, marketing and stuff.

Today marks day two of this blog. In the past 24-hours the blog has received 30 unique visitors so I am pretty chuffed with that result. Especially seeing I only have one real post uploaded.

In the post I intend to explain my reasoning for this blog and all of that stuff.

If you look around the net at the moment, the keywords: internet business, marketing, internet marketing, technology, yada yada are so heavily used. And here I am making an entry into the land of internet with a site that works those words too -hehe. The way I intend to make my blog different is to convey my opinions at a novice level -which I am.

I only made my first journey into online business last year. I had an idea for a property search site targeting a niche. The plan is still in development unfortunately, but I have learnt a lot.

Since the beginning I have mucked around with a few other sites and a number of domain names and I have even made some money. I intend to see how far I can take my head full of ideas and what becomes of it all. And, as it seems, I am sharing it with the world too…

Another flavour I wish to add to this blog is Australian. I am Australian and see a lack of content about Australian business, internet marketing, technology and the like.

Overall, this blog is about internet business and marketing, technology and the internet, particularly in Australia. Oh, through the eyes of a novice.

Some of the things I am not so novice in are marketing (especially value exchange), telecommunications (especially wireless and data), graphic design and photography. All of these areas will shine through in my posts a little. When it comes to the subject of business overall, I feel I have a good understanding of what’s going on in the world.

Anyway, over and out for now.
